Four-Star RM68 Mln Holiday Inn Opens In Melaka MELAKA, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Melaka's first new international hotel in over 10 years, the 20-storey RM68 million Holiday Inn Melaka, opened for business Monday at Bandar Hilir here. The hotel overlooks the Straits of Melaka and is a short walk away from historic attractions such as the The Stadhuys, St Peter's Church and Jonker Street. "The hotel commands an unrivalled view of the picturesque Straits of Melaka, a view that will appeal to both the corporate and leisure markets," its general manager, Damien Ten Bohmer, said today at the official opening of the hotel by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam. He described Holiday Inn's entry as well timed to strengthen Melaka's tourism market, especially in the midst of the Visit Malaysia Year campaign, and pledged that the hotel will help raise the profile of tourism in this historic city. The four-star hotel has 275 guest rooms including four floors of executive club rooms, 10 suites and a presidential suite. The hotel is being managed by the InterContinental Hotels Group, the world's largest hotel group with over 3,650 hotels and 543,775 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries and territories. -- BERNAMA
